2021 Guernsey Chocolate Run FAQs

General Questions:

Refund Policy

Refund Policy: NO REFUNDS or Transfers unless you have been double charged or accidentally signed up more than once.

Standard race policy states that when emergency conditions such as weather, threats of terrorism, medical emergencies, or any potentially unsafe condition out of our control force cancellation of an event, refunds cannot and will not be provided since funds have been spent on race day already.

What do I get for my entry fee?

The first 600 participants in the Guernsey Chocolate Run 10K, 5K,  receive a “Jacket”.  After that a long sleeve Tech Shirt.  Supply chain and delivery delays overseas have made it very difficult to guarantee after 600.   All 10K, 5K, and Half Mile finishers receive a medal. Age Group Awards in 10K & 5K events.  Join our post-race party for a plethora of Chocolate served buffet style under the tent and Guernsey Dairy Hot chocolate!

Due to time constraints on city streets, there will not be a Chocolate Double .

What are the age limits for the races?

There are no age limits. We encourage participants of all ages to join us.

Are the race events walker friendly?

Yes, we will have plenty of participants that will walk. If you plan to walk the race, we do require that you line up at the back of the race corral so as not to impede the faster runners. 10K Time Qualifier: Participants must run at “18 minutes or less pace per mile” to register for our 10K event

Are there refunds if cannot attend? Can someone else run with my bib no?

NO REFUNDS; ONLY TRANSFERS ALLOWED TO ANOTHER PERSON BEFORE OUR ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES!

Jackets only to the first 600 registered, Tech Shirts guaranteed to those pre-registered.

Are baby joggers or strollers or pet dogs allowed during the race?

If you choose to run with a baby jogger or a pet dog, you must seed yourself in the back of all runners. It is your responsibility to make sure the baby jogger or pet dog does not impede other runners as well as you must take extra precaution as to your safety, your child’s safety and the safety of the runners around you. We reserve the right to pull any person from the race who is endangering other runners or themselves.  All dogs MUST be kept on a SHORT leash.

Are headphones (iPods, mp3 players, etc) allowed during the race?

Headphones are allowed for any runner however, we do recommend that runners use extreme precaution when using headphones during the race event for safety reasons.

When is the last day to register?

The last day to register “online” is Thursday, November 18th by 11:00 pm EST.

How will I receive my race packet?

You must pick up your race packet before the event. We will not mail race packets.

Race Information:

Can I register on race day?

Race day morning, November 21st, from 6:00 AM to 7:45 AM. CASH ONLY.

Do you accept credit cards for registration race day?

No, cash only.

Will there be water stations?

Yes, there will be aid station at each mile in the 10k, and at the halfway point of the 5k event. Water and Gatorade Endurance is provided at each spot as well as the start & finish areas.

Will there be medical aid stations?

The Medical Aid station is located at start/finish line area and course marshals on all three courses have two-way radios for contact with public safety officials.

Will there be bathrooms/portable toilets available?

Indoor restrooms are available at the Plymouth Arts and Recreation Center (PARC) and at The Gathering pavilion. Portable toilets are available at start/finish area next to The Gathering pavilion, adjacent to Kellogg Park, at the 3 mile aid station on the 10K course, at the aid station at the combined 4.5 mile-10K course/halfway point of the 5K course location.

Where can we park for the race?

Parking is available in the PARC lots as well as the hockey rink next door.

Where are start/finish lines and the event start times?

THE FINISH LINE SHUTS DOWN AT 9:30 A.M.  Start and Finish lines are on the PARC track, opposite ends.  The Cocoa half mile will begin at 7:50 a.m.  With 10k and 5k starting at 8:00 a.m.  10k athletes will simply do 2 laps of the 5k course.

What times do the courses close?

THE FINISH LINE SHUTS DOWN AT 9:30 A.M.  The Chocolate Run 10K street course will simply do 2 loops of the 5k course.

B-Tag chip timing?

Runners will need to wear Race Bib on their front – shirt/ jacket/ pants – to be scored in 10K & 5K Run/Walk events (ChronoTrack B-tag is on the bib).

Awards:

Age Group Awards?

Age group awards are presented for the 10K and 5K events for males and females in the top three places in the age groups 10-14 years, 15-19 years, 20-24 years, 25-29 years, 30-34 years, 35-39 years, 40-44 years, 45-49 years, 50-54 years, 55-59 years, 60-64 years, 65-69 years, 70-74 years and 75+ years. Awards be given out at the Awards backdrop next to the tent on the PARC field at 9:30 AM. If you think you have won an award, please check at the Awards tent. If you are unable to wait for the official results and pick up your award on race day, you may have a friend pick it up or pay to have it shipped.
